DAPHNE - ORIGINAL PAINTING BY AVA REID

Part of the MaccPow 2026 Commission Collection

Jeepers! It's danger-prone Daphne Blake from Scooby Doo, completely reimagined.

This original acrylic painting by Macclesfield artist Ava Reid brings Scooby-Doo’s most glamorous mystery solver to life in a gloriously personal way.

Daphne stands arms wide open against a sweeping coral-red canvas, her auburn hair topped with a Parisian chic, black beret, her textured top vibrant with swirling pink and white, and a dark striped skirt grounding her in bold graphic style. A scatter of deep red and green shapes at her feet adds to the sense of a world that is vivid, playful and entirely Ava’s own.

Daphne appealed to Ava for her fearlessness. A cartoon character who throws herself into every adventure with her style intact. In this painting, that energy is infectious.

About the Collection

This painting is one of nine original paintings created for MaccPow 2026, Macclesfield's comic art festival, celebrating the town's rich creative heritage. Ava was commissioned to depict females from the world of comics and comic art, characters whose vibrancy, cheekiness, or strength of spirit resonated with her. The result is a collection that is as personal as it is powerful.
