Two sisters resplendent in a glorious, golden setting.
This original acrylic painting by Macclesfield artist Ava Reid reimagines Frozen’s beloved royal sisters in a palette that is anything but icy.
Elsa and Anna stand side by side against a luminous amber and yellow background, their richly textured robes built up in layer upon layer of Ava’s signature circular marks in terracotta, burgundy, rust and warm brown. Swirling shapes in slate grey billow around them like snowdrifts, offering the only whisper of Arendelle’s frozen world in this otherwise glowing canvas.
Ava adores the movie Frozen, and was compelled to include Elsa and Anna in this collection for the bond between them, and their story of love, loyalty and the courage to be yourself.
This is the only painting in the collection to feature two characters together, and it feels exactly right.

About the Collection
This painting is one of nine original paintings created for MaccPow 2026, Macclesfield's comic art festival, celebrating the town's rich creative heritage. Ava was commissioned to depict females from the world of comics and comic art, characters whose vibrancy, cheekiness, or strength of spirit resonated with her. The result is a collection that is as personal as it is powerful.

About the Artist
Ava Reid is a Macclesfield based artist whose work is characterised by its confident colours, distinctive shapes, and joyful energy. As an artist with Down's syndrome and Autism Ava brings a perspective that is genuinely unique. Ava's work is never constrained by her own expectation of the finished product but are born of the purest creative instinct.
Ava's work has been celebrated for releasing genuine emotion amongst first time admirers as well as more seasoned fans. Her work is an outstanding example of art made by an artist with a learning disability that commands serious attention with it's vibrance and confidence.
Collecting an Ava Reid original means owning something that cannot be replicated, a piece of authentic art from one of Macclesfield's most exciting emerging talents.
